At SVPS, children benefit from Theme-Based Learning that invites curiosity and inquisitiveness into the learning process. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) are integrated within Art, Pretend Corners, Organized Games, Free Play, Gardening, Yoga, Music and Movement. Children blossom through the cultivation of Creativity, Communication and Collaboration.
GOAL
Our goal is nurture creativity, communication and collaboration and appreciate what is around us as young minds thrive. What is Theme-Based Learning? A theme based curriculum connects each skill area of the curriculum to a topic which we refer to as a theme. This could be a week-long theme, a month-long theme, or a theme for a term. Themes are usually very specific, for example a preschooler would be learning about transportation as a four-week theme. All their classroom activities rather academic areas would be connected to that theme. Learning is an integrated process and theme-based education is beneficial in several ways. Children of all ages benefit from the connections made across the curriculum. Rather than teaching each skill or topic in isolation, children are encouraged to see that theme at different times of the day through different subjects. Over a period of time, the child begins to make his or her own connection from one experience to another thus establishing creativity in thinking. We have replaced traditional “walk, chalk, talk” of the past with dynamic learning providing opportunities for field work, community service projects, coding games and innovation.
Who knows? A Kindergartener at SVPS could be another Nikola Tesla or an Einstein!!! This is a 3-hour program, beginning at 9.00 am and ending at 12.00 pm. We ask children to arrive between 8.45 and 9.00 am to ensure a punctual beginning of morning circle time. Admission into SVPS requires a chat and an hour of play-time with us. We are open for enrollment into Academic Year 2018-19.
